The Fool upright meaning
A young man in a bright patterned tunic walks toward the edge of a cliff. He holds a white rose in one hand and carries a small bundle on a stick over his shoulder. A white dog jumps at his heels. He is looking up at the sky, not down at the drop. A white sun shines behind him, and the mountains are far away.
Upright, The Fool means a beginning you cannot fully plan. A new person, a move, a fresh start after something ended. It is card zero, so it sits before everything else in the deck. The point is that you do not have the information yet, and you will not get it by standing still.
People read the cliff as danger. I read it as the honest part of the card. Every real start has a moment where you step without knowing. The Fool is not stupid. He is willing.
