A love spell is candle work set on two names to draw attention, warmth and contact from one person toward another. It works on a pull that already exists or could exist between you. It does not create feelings out of nothing, and it does not take anyone’s will away.
Love spells are the thing I am asked for most. What follows is the version I would give a friend who wanted to do it at home: what the work really does, which kind of love working fits your situation, how to cast a simple honey jar spell, how to read the candle when it is done, and what I do differently when someone asks me to cast it for them.
What a love spell does, and what it does not
It works on the road between two people. Think of it as turning up the heat on something that is lukewarm, or clearing a path that is overgrown. It does not reach into someone’s head and rewrite what they feel.
A proper love working does three things:
- It draws attention. Your name comes up in their mind, their feed, their conversations. This is the first and most common sign.
- It warms what is there. Honey is the old material for this. Whatever is already between you, the interest, the chemistry, the unfinished conversation, is sweetened until it wants to move.
- It opens contact. A message, a reason to meet, a door that was shut without anyone saying so.
What it does not do matters as much. It does not make a stranger fall in love with you. It does not keep someone who wants to leave. And it is not a binding. If the only way to have someone is to take away their choice, the candle usually tells you so by fighting you the whole way down.
Does a love spell actually work?
It works on the pull between two people, not on anyone’s free will. When there is real attraction held back by timing, nerves, distance or pride, the work moves it, and you will see ordinary signs: contact, attention, the distance softening. When there is nothing there, no candle builds it from scratch.
That is the honest answer. Anyone who promises you a certain person on a certain date is selling the promise, not the work.
The most powerful love spell is the right one
People ask for the most powerful love spell when what they need is the right one. A bigger candle on the wrong working does nothing. Here is how I sort it.
| If this is you | The working |
|---|---|
| There is attraction or something started, and you want it to grow | Love spell |
| You were together, it broke, and you want it back | Reconciliation |
| You do not need a relationship yet, you need one message | Contact me spell |
| You want to be on their mind, often and hard | Obsession spell |
| You are together, and you want it to stay faithful and steady | Loyalty spell |
| You are together, and it is waiting on commitment | Marriage spell |
| You want to be noticed, by them or by anyone | Glamour spell |
If you read that table and more than one row fits, start with the one closest to where things stand today, not where you want them to end up.
Before you cast: three honest questions
Is there something there already? A look that lasted too long, a conversation that went late, a connection that went quiet. Any of these is ground to work on. If you have never spoken, a glamour spell on yourself does more than a love spell on them.
What is in the way? Name it in one or two words. Timing. Distance. Their ex. Nerves. You will carve it into the candle, so the burn works through it.
Do you want them, or do you want to feel wanted? Answer this honestly, on your own. Both are real needs. They are different workings, and the second one is often better served by working on yourself.
One more thing, said plainly. If they have told you no, or asked you to leave them alone, this is not the spell. I will not cast it in that case, and I would ask you not to either.
How to cast a simple honey jar love spell at home
The honey jar is the old, gentle way to do this. It keeps working as long as you keep feeding it, so it suits a pull that needs time rather than one push. You need about an hour for the first sitting.

What you need
- A small jar of honey with a metal lid. Sugar or syrup work if you have no honey.
- One red or pink chime candle. It burns down in about two hours and fits on the lid.
- A square of plain paper and a pen. Brown paper is traditional. Any unlined paper is fine.
- A pinch of dried rose petals and a small piece of cinnamon. Both are optional. Rose for love, cinnamon for heat and speed.
- Something to carve with. A pin, a nail, the tip of a small knife.
- A fireproof plate under the jar, on a clear surface, away from curtains, shelves and pets.
1. Write the petition
Write their first name three times, one under the other. Turn the paper a quarter turn and write your own first name three times across theirs, so the names cross.
Around the names, write one sentence of what you want, in the present tense, as if it is already happening. Keep it about warmth and contact, not about control. We are drawn to each other and the road between us is open. That is enough. A long petition usually just leaks the worry into the work.
2. Fill the jar
Open the jar and drop in the rose petals and cinnamon. Fold the petition toward you, once and then again, because folding toward yourself is how you draw something in. Push it down into the honey until it is covered.
3. Sweeten it
Dip a finger in the honey, taste it, and say their name. The old words are as this honey is sweet to me, so you will be sweet to me. Your own words are better if you have them. Close the lid tight.
4. Carve and light the candle
Carve both first names near the top of the candle and the word for what is in the way near the bottom. Warm the base with a match so it sticks to the lid, and stand it on top of the jar. Light it, say both names and your sentence once, out loud, and then stop talking.
Stay in the room while it burns. If you have to leave, pinch or snuff the flame rather than blowing it out, and relight it when you are back. Never leave a candle burning alone.
5. Keep feeding it
This is the part most people skip. Burn a new candle on the lid once a week, traditionally on a Friday, until you have your answer. The wax builds up on the lid, and that build up is part of the working. When it is done, either way, bury the jar or put it out of sight and stop thinking about it.
How to read the candle after it burns
The candle tells you how much resistance there is, not how they feel about you. Before you interpret anything, write down what you saw: how the flame stood, where the wax went, what the smoke did. Then read it.

| What you see | What it means for a love spell |
|---|---|
| Tall, steady, bright flame | The road is open. The pull is real and not much stands in it. |
| Low, weak flame that barely holds | Interest is there but faint, or held down by something heavy. |
| Flame that jumps or dances | A lot of feeling moving, not all of it settled. |
| Flame that splits in two | Someone else is in the picture. |
| Crackling or spitting | Talk. Messages, a conversation, your name in someone’s mouth. |
| Black smoke or soot near the top only | Resistance at the start that burned through. |
| Soot all the way down | Resistance through the whole working. Look at what you carved at the bottom. |
| Wax running toward their name | They are leaning in. |
| Wax running away from both names | Distance, for now. |
| Burns down to nothing | Closed cleanly. |
| Goes out on its own | Blocked for now. It needs a second go, not a bigger candle. |
A bad burn is still a reading. It tells you what you are up against, and that is worth knowing before you spend the next month waiting.
How to tell if a love spell is on you
People ask this more than you would think, usually because they cannot stop thinking about someone and it does not feel like their own idea. The honest answer: a love spell cannot make you feel what you do not feel. At most it turns your attention toward someone. The signs are ordinary, dreams about them, their name coming up, a pull to check on them, and they are also what a crush feels like.
If the pull is unwelcome, you do not need to find out who did what. Take a salt bath, sleep on it, and if it stays, a cord cutting ends the tie from your side whatever started it. If you believe someone set work against you on purpose, that is what return to sender is for.
How long a love spell takes to work
I read timing from the burn, not the calendar, and I do not give dates. A clean, steady burn points to movement within one lunar cycle, and it usually starts small, attention before contact, contact before anything bigger. A heavy burn says there is something to clear first, and that comes before anything else.
While you wait, do less than you want to. Do not send three messages in a row or read into every like. Chasing right after the work tends to close what it just opened. Live your life where they can see it, and when they reach out, answer warmly and plainly.
When I cast it for you
The method at my altar is close to the one you just read. Both names crossed on the petition, honey, red cord, the candle carved with what stands in the way and burned through the same day. What changes is what you get back.

You get a photograph of your candle after the burn, and a written report: what I did, what the candle did, what I read in it and what to watch for. If the road looks closed, the report says so, because you deserve to spend the next month on something real.
- Single Candle when there is already something there and it needs heat.
- Double Casting when they have gone quiet, or when there is distance you did not choose. Two nights, the second read from the first.
- Forever and Lasting when you want the pull kept standing rather than lit once. Kept lit across a full lunar cycle, one report at the end.
You send both first names, and a photo if you have one. No birth dates, no charts, no story unless you want to tell it. I do not promise outcomes. Nobody honest does. I do the work properly, and I tell you the truth about how it burned.
