Tarot card meaning · Wands Six of Wands tarot card meaning

The Six of Wands is the card of a win other people can see. Upright it means victory, recognition and being chosen in public. Reversed it means the credit goes somewhere else for now, or the win comes with doubt attached. In a yes or no reading it is a yes: you win this one, and people notice.

Upright

Six of Wands upright meaning

A man rides a white horse through a crowd. He wears a laurel wreath on his head and another wreath is tied to the top of the staff he carries. The people around him are on foot, holding their own staffs up. He is the only one riding, and he is the one they are looking at.

Upright, the Six of Wands means you win, and the win is visible. A job offer, a good result, a relationship someone is proud to show. It is not a private victory. Other people see it, and that is part of what makes it count.

It also says something about pride. Not the bad kind. The kind that comes after you have done the work and somebody finally says so. If you have been overlooked for a while, this card is often the moment that stops.

Reversed

Six of Wands reversed meaning

Reversed, the parade is still happening, but you are not on the horse. Most often it means the credit goes to someone else this round. The promotion, the attention, the person you wanted. It stings, and it is usually temporary.

It can also mean you got the win and do not trust it. You keep waiting for someone to take it back. Or the recognition is there but it is hollow, from people whose opinion you do not actually value.

I read it as a delay, not a loss. The work still counts. The timing is off, and pushing for the applause now tends to make it worse.

Love and relationships

Six of Wands in love.

If you are single

You are more noticed than you think. Someone is watching you do well and liking what they see. Let yourself be seen at your best, not only when you are sure of the outcome.

In a relationship

The relationship goes public, or gets a win you share. Meeting the family, posting about it, a milestone other people celebrate with you. Upright, you are proud of each other and it shows.

About an ex

About an ex, the Six of Wands often means they see you doing well now, and it registers. That is not the same as them coming back. It means you came out of it upright, and they know it.

How they feel

Six of Wands as feelings

As feelings, the Six of Wands means they admire you. They are proud of you, or proud to be seen with you. There is some ego in it: you make them look good, and they like that. It is warm, and it is a little about them.

What to do

Six of Wands as advice

Take the win and let it be seen. Do not shrink it to make anyone comfortable. If you have earned recognition, ask for it plainly. If you already have it, be generous with it.

The question everyone asks

Does the Six of Wands mean he will come back, or that they want me again?

It means they notice you, and that you are doing well in a way they can see. That often pulls people back into contact. But the card is about your victory, not their return. If they do come back, it will be because of who you are now, not because they are ready to fix what happened.

In my readings

When Six of Wands comes up for me.

The Six of Wands comes up a lot in readings about work, and I take it seriously there. When I see it, I look for what has already been done. Usually the client has put in the effort and is waiting for someone with power to notice. The card says they will, and the cards around it tell me how long the wait is.

Reversed, I look for who is taking the credit, and whether the client is hiding their own work. That is the kind of block career work is good at clearing: getting seen by the right people at the right moment. In love readings I check whether the pride in it is shared, or one sided.

If this card is about someone

One card shows a corner. I read the room.

When a card keeps coming up about the same person, the question under it is bigger than its meaning. These are the two ways I can help with it today.
