Bad luck and sent work can look alike from the inside. Here is how I tell them apart.
Ordinary bad luck is spread thin. Things go wrong in different parts of your life for reasons you can name: money is tight because work is slow, you are sick because everyone around you was sick. It is heavy, but it makes sense.
Something sent tends to be patterned. It started around a specific moment or a specific person. It focuses on one area, often the thing you care about most. It comes with a feeling of being watched or pushed, and it does not respond to normal fixes.
If you read that and recognized the first description, you do not need this spell. You need rest, and perhaps a road opener. If it was the second, keep reading.
What a return to sender spell does
A proper return has three parts, in this order.
- The uncrossing. What is sitting on you gets washed off first. You cannot send something back while you are still carrying it.
- The return. A mirror is turned outward and a black candle is burned for the return. What was sent goes back to its source exactly as it came. Nothing is added. That is the difference between a return and a curse, and it is why a clean return does not backfire.
- The seal. The house and the person are closed afterward, so the same thing cannot come back through the same door.

How to cast a simple return to sender at home
You need salt, one black candle, a small mirror and about two hours, plus time for a rinse beforehand.
What you need
- Salt, a few handfuls.
- A lemon and a handful of rosemary or hyssop.
- One black chime candle.
- A small mirror.
- Paper, a pen, a pin to carve with and a fireproof plate.
1. Uncross first
Dissolve a handful of salt in a bowl of warm water with the juice of the lemon and the rosemary or hyssop. After a normal shower, pour it over yourself from the head down, saying: what is not mine leaves me. Do not rinse it off. Pat dry. Pour what is left out the front door, away from the house.
2. Write the petition
Write to whoever sent this, or a name if you are certain. Under it: what you sent returns to you as it came, nothing added. Fold the paper away from you.
3. Set the mirror
Put the folded petition under the plate. Stand the mirror behind the candle, facing away from you and toward the door or window. The mirror is the road home for whatever was sent.
4. Carve and light
Carve return down the length of the black candle. Light it and say the sentence from the petition once. Stay in the room while it burns. If you must leave, snuff it and relight it when you are back.
5. Seal
When the candle has burned down, pour a line of salt across the inside of your front door and leave it for three days. Wrap the petition and whatever wax is left and throw them away outside your home. Wipe the mirror with salt water before you use it again.
How to read the burn

How long a return to sender takes
I do not give dates. What you should notice first is small: sleep that comes easier, a week without the little disasters, the feeling of being watched fading. If the burn was clean, that tends to show within one lunar cycle. If the candle fought, do the seal properly and give it a second working after a week.
Do not reopen contact with the person you suspect while it settles. Most things that come back come through the same door.
