The car, the phone, a tooth and the job all went wrong in the same month, and you cannot point at the reason. A good luck spell is a clearing and a calling, set on your name alone: a white candle to burn off whatever has been lying across your road, then a green or gold one to call the openings back. It is not a lottery ticket. It is the road stopping being uphill in every direction at once.
The old name for this work is blockbuster, and I like it because it is honest. It is removal first and decoration never.
What a good luck spell actually clears
It clears the residue a bad run leaves behind: the expectation that the next thing will go wrong too, and the small patterns that quietly make sure it does. Then it calls the ordinary luck back, the right person at the right moment, the small yes, the door that opens on the first push. It does not rig anything.
A bad run is rarely one thing. It is a dozen small things that each had a reason, arriving close enough together that they start to feel like a verdict. After a few weeks of that, people begin to move differently. They stop asking. They expect the no before they have heard it, and they walk past doors because the last four were locked. That is what sits across the road, and it is what the white candle is for.
What it does not do matters too. It does not change odds, fix a decision someone else has made, or make a hard exam easy. It takes the weight off the road so that the next ordinary chance is one you see and take, and in my experience that is most of what luck ever was.
This is the one working where you do not have to name anything. If all you can say is everything, this is yours.
Is it bad luck, or is it something with a name?
Bad luck spreads thin across your whole life and has causes you can list if you sit down with a pen. A thing with a name does not. It starts on a date, it follows a person or a falling out, and it hits one part of your life hard while the rest goes on as normal. The two need different candles.
Before I set a luck working, I ask three things. Did it start on a day you can name, and did something happen with a person just before? If yes, that is not a luck problem, and I would read signs someone put a spell on you before lighting anything, because the answer there is usually more ordinary than people fear. Is there one person whose presence makes everything go wrong? Then the road is fine and the cord is the problem, and a cord cutting spell does more than any amount of luck. Is it one door, and you know which? Then a road opener, not this.
If you shrugged at all three, you have a bad run, which is the plain thing this working is built for. Nobody cursed you. Your road got covered.
Why the clearing candle burns first
You cannot pour luck onto a road that is still covered. The white candle takes the burden first, inside a ring of salt, and everything from that half of the working leaves the house before the second candle is lit. Skip it, and the luck candle has nowhere to land.
When people come to me after a home luck spell that did nothing, nearly every time they burned a single green candle and asked for good things. The good things arrived at a door still piled with the last month’s wreckage and went past. When I set the white candle first for the same person, it often burns heavy, with soot climbing the glass, and that soot is the run coming off.
White is the clearing color because it will take any burden you give it without arguing. The salt ring holds what the candle pulls off so it does not spread back into the room. In the luck candles I burned this autumn, the white glass has carried more soot than the second one nearly every time, and that is the pattern you want: the first candle fights, the second one does not.
Salt, bay and the Sunday candle: materials and timing
Salt to hold what comes off, three bay leaves to carry what you want, a coin to give the luck a direction, and two candles: white to clear and green or gold to call. Sunday evening, on a waxing moon, is the night for it. Sunday belongs to the Sun, and the Sun is the planet of success and of being seen in a good light.
Salt is the oldest cleanser there is. A thin ring of it around the clearing candle’s plate holds what the burn draws off, and it leaves the house with the wax. For a run that has been heavy for months I add a pinch of dried hyssop to the salt, which is the herb the old texts use for purging.
Bay is the laurel leaf, the plant of winners, and three is the count the old luck work uses: one leaf for each thing you want to go right. You write on them and they sit under the luck candle with the coin.
The coin gives the luck a direction. It sits on top of the leaves under the luck candle, so the wax runs onto something that is already yours.
Green or gold is a real choice. Green for luck that pays, a tight month, a business that needs a turn. Gold for luck that is seen, an audition, a tryout, a season of interviews. At my altar I keep a piece of High John the Conqueror root under the luck glass for steadiness and mastery. You do not need one at home.
Timing. Sunday evening in one sitting is the plain answer. The traditional split, if you need one, is the clearing on Saturday, the day for endings, and the calling on Sunday. A new moon suits a run you cannot name at all. If you are reading this at two in the morning after a bad week, tonight is the right night.
How to cast a good luck spell in one sitting
Two chime candles, salt, a coin, three bay leaves, and about three hours, because the second candle is not lit until the first has finished. This is the working I set at my altar, with nothing added for show.
What you need
- One white chime candle for the clearing.
- One green or gold chime candle for the calling. Green for luck that pays, gold for luck that is seen.
- Salt, a small handful, and a pinch of dried hyssop if the run has been long.
- A coin you have carried and three bay leaves with a fine marker to write on them.
- A square of plain paper, a pen and a pin to carve with.
- Two fireproof plates on a clear, steady surface, away from curtains, paper and pets.
1. Name the run
On the paper, your first name, and under it the three things that have gone wrong most recently, in plain words. The car. The tooth. The second interview. Do not write the story. Fold the paper away from you, twice, because folding away is how you send something off. Put it under the first plate and pour a thin ring of salt around the plate.
2. Carve and burn the clearing candle
Carve clear down the white candle. Dress it with a drop of oil from the middle out toward each end, away from you, because this half of the working sends off. Stand it on the plate, light it, and say once: what has been sitting on my road burns away. Let it burn down completely while you stay in the room. This is the half people rush.
3. Throw the run out
When the white candle is done and cool, gather the salt, the folded paper and whatever wax is left, and take them out of the front door to the outside bin, or further if you can. Do not look back at the door on the way in. Wash your hands to the elbow with a pinch of salt in the water.
4. Write the three leaves
On each bay leaf, one thing you want to go right, in two or three words. Lay the three leaves on the second plate and put the coin on top of them.
5. Dress, carve and light the luck candle
Dress the green or gold candle from each end in toward the middle, toward you, because this half draws. Carve your first name near the top and luck near the base, where the flame finishes. Stand it on the coin, pressing the base into it so it holds. Light it and say once: the road is clear, and good things find it. Let it burn down. Watch where the wax runs. Never leave either candle alone, and if you must leave the room, snuff it and relight it when you are back.
6. Carry it
Put the coin and one bay leaf in your wallet. Wrap the other two leaves and the luck candle’s wax in a square of cloth and keep the bundle in a dish by your front door, which is where luck comes in. When you notice an opening this month, touch the coin and take it.
What the two candles tell you
The white candle tells you how heavy the run was. The green or gold candle tells you how open the road is now that the run is off it. Rule out the draft and the long wick before you read anything. The full grammar is in how to read a candle burn. These are the patterns that belong to luck work.

Good luck spell for exams, court or a game: what it can and cannot do
These are the three things people most often ask me to cast luck for, and each needs a plain answer. For an exam, the candle works on the margin and not the material. For court, it works on your side of the road and never on the judge. For a game, it can steady you and cannot change the odds.
Exams. Cast it the night before, carry one bay leaf into the room, and study as if you had lit nothing. What the working does is take the edge off the first blank minute and clear the small disasters, the alarm that does not go off, the pen that dies. It does not read the chapters for you, and a candle lit instead of revision burns like a shortcut.
Court. I will set luck work for the walk to the building: the lost letter that turns up, the postponed date that finally holds, steady hands on the morning. I do not cast anything aimed at a judge, a jury or the other side. The substance of a case belongs to a lawyer, and if you cannot afford one, legal aid exists in most places.
A game. For a tournament, a tryout, an audition, a match you have trained for, luck work does what it does everywhere else: clears the run and steadies the hands. For a bet, I do not cast. A candle aimed at a dice roll burns muddy, and I cannot write an honest report about a coin toss.
The order the luck comes back in
The first sign is an absence, and most people miss it because nobody notices a disaster that does not happen. For most people the first signs come in the second or third week, and the whole turn, when there is one, falls within three lunar cycles.
- A quiet week. Nothing breaks. Nothing goes wrong on the way to work.
- The small yes. A parking space, a refund that comes through without a fight, someone being kind at a counter. Small, and it is the road showing you it is clear.
- The timing. You run into the right person on the right day. A thing you needed turns out to be on sale. The call comes the hour you had time for it.
- The door you had given up on. The application you forgot, the friend who went quiet, the lead that went cold, comes back on its own.
- The run turns. Not a jackpot. A month where more things go right than wrong, which after the last few feels like one.
What stretches it is the story. For the first two weeks, do not narrate the bad run to anyone. Let the quiet week be quiet.
What breaks a run of good luck after the candle
- Skipping the clearing. A luck candle on a covered road is a candle wasted.
- Keeping the clearing remains in the house. The salt and the white wax are the run. Out of the front door, the same night.
- Saying with my luck. You are carving the run back into the air every time. Stop saying it for a month and watch what changes.
- Casting it every week. Luck work is for a run, not a routine. If you need it weekly, the block is in your sleep or your job, and rest will do more.
- Casting it on someone else’s run without asking them. I do not set work on a person who has not asked for it, and a luck candle for your partner’s bad month is still work on a person. Tell them, or light one for yourself and let the house feel it.
When a good luck spell is the wrong tool
A good luck spell is for a run with no single cause. The moment you can name the door, the person or the channel, there is a better candle.

The method at my altar is the one above, set the same day your order comes in, with glass candles in place of the chimes and High John root under the luck glass. The clearing candle burns first and I read what comes off it before I light the second. Place the order before 6 pm ET and both candles burn tonight.
What comes back is a photograph of both candles after the burn and a written report: what came off the road, what the luck candle did once it was clear, what I read in each, and the one thing I would do this week. If the white candle shows something with a name, a person, a date, one door, the report says so and points you to the working that fits. Reply with anything you want to ask and I answer.
